Murray, USA...

My year as an exchange student in Murray is over. Therefore, I want to summarize this experience a little bit and pick out the things that are most important to me.

Everything is different. The people, the culture, simply the whole way of life. And, it is impossible to change that. Once I learned how to handle these differences, I was able to see the nice and beautiful things here. With improved language skills and increased cultural awareness, I got in real good contact with people from many different countries. So, this is actually the thing I am most proud of. We had friends from Kenya, Columbia, Venezuela, Panama, Jamaica, Belize,... coming to parties at our house, having fun no matter of which race or what social background they were.

Second thing I am really proud of is my MBA. The MBA was the main reason why I came to Murray. And having studied for it for a whole year resulted in a summa cum laude masters degree.

Third main achievement of this year is the success of my team and me in a worldwide marketing simulation. Stephan, Bernd, and I are ranked sixth with our virtual company in the beauty products business. L'Oreal, the initiator of this challenge, therefore invited us, all expenses paid, to New York to meet with top executives. With us was Dr. Mangold, our instructor.
