"With its arid and disparate architectural landscape, modern El Paso is part oversized strip mall, part Mexican mission town - a city caught between two states, two countries, and two languages. The largest of the U.S. border towns, El Paso grew up in the 17th century as a stop-over on an important east-west wagon route that trailed the Rio Grande through 'the pass' (el paso) between the Rockies and the Sierra Madres. As Spain extended its colonial reach into the new world, El Paso became a center for missionary activity."
We drove along the "Scenic Drive" to get a quite good overlook about the city. In the nights, we enjoyed the nightlife not only on the U.S. side of the border but also got an impression of what a Mexican border town is like. Before that, we enjoyed a visit at the largest Harley Davidson dealer of the world.
The way up to the north was another day full of desert but became pretty interesting as we started to reach the southern parts of the Rocky Mountains.
