Passing Izamal...

... we headed onward to Mérida, Yucatan's capital, where we celebrated Mexico's independance day "Dia de la Independencia" - September 16th. 

     
Our hotel was a great, centrally located place to start a visit of the city's main attractions.

On the "Placa Principal", the big cathedral is not the only highlight besides the Palacio Municipal. It's also the s-formed seats ("confidenciales") where you can sit down for a smalltalk or just to enjoy the atmosphere of this place (right on the picture below).
